There’s a specific modern anxiety that comes with putting creative work online. You put your heart and soul into something, put it out to an audience of potentially billions, and hear back… nothing like what you hoped...
Selfish question: Is there another offer for those of us who are reading this and now would like to buy the sold out digital bundle? If not, when will we have/get access?
I've found the private-to-public threshold crossing to have an aspect of exposure practice, and one that personally often requires an invitation or a calling by another to entice over a psychological protective moat or barrier. The first step is to expose yourself to your own thoughts, and the written word is one useful way to explore this recursively. Letting a thought mature over time into something worth sharing ever more publicly requires patience, then courage.
Furthermore, acclimatizing oneself to "no reaction" or "different than expected/desired reaction", and observing one's own reaction is an important step in developing and curating one's voice and tastes.
I love this thought Yancey. I’ve been subconsciously thinking and experiencing what you wrote here, and you put it so nicely into words that I resonate with. This is an important realization to have.
I think I know what you mean by publishing privately, but I want to keep that question open in the background of my mind and see what both my conscious and subconscious mind comes up with.
I'm so glad this worked out.

Yes! Thank you for asking. I made an open edition you can collect here: https://darkforest.metalabel.com/post-individual-open
Thanks so much. I loved (and can't stop thinking about) your insights on this ever-changing notion of self.
First line made me laugh hard, like I just felt that 5 minutes ago!
Aaaand... Can I get in on this? =)
"When we seek private satisfaction through public success, we give up our power to the outside world."

I enjoyed this Yancey. Nice questions posed at the end for us too.
